Half-Naked little girls…. and baby boys watchin’ soft-porn?

When I was young, I had to sneak shorts out of the house, if they were less than mid-thigh in length, and, if I dared to wear them to school, I was sent home, with a call to my parents. When my mother was young, girls were expected to wear appropriate length skirts to school, pants were not allowed. Today, I see young girls, exiting their schools, and climbing into their mother’s or father’s cars, wearing shirts cut so low, their nipples are almost showing, and shorts so short, their butt cheeks ARE showing.

This past Christmas break, I was watching Elf. Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Commercial time……. and what commercial do you think airs? A Victoria Secret commercial, with some 6 naked women… not once, not twice, but several times during this episode of Elf…. Who do you think their target market was? The mothers, most of whom do not look like professional models in their undies. The fathers, who need one more “fantasy” distraction from their family? Or, was it the children, watching Elf, on a Saturday afternoon, during their Christmas break?

My point is, why have we, as a culture, allowed our children to be sexified? A 7 year old little boy, develops the habit of looking up naked women/soft porn on the ipad. An 11 year old little girl, is failing all of her classes, BUT, has the tightest, “coolest,” clothes money can buy, it’s made her one of the popular girls, you know….. that’s what’s important.

Every generation of parents, looks at the generation of children they are raising, and has some “shocks.” BUT, this is NOT, a couple of kids listening to Rock N’ Roll. This, is a generation of chilren, who are being RAISED on sex, video games, and anti-psychotic drugs. Why is this, do you think?

Maybe, so they become minimum wage work horse consumers? So, they grow up, without TOO much intelligence? So, by the time our daughters are 16, everyone accepts the fact, they can show off everything they’ve got, and perhaps, becuase they have recieved sexual attention from the time they were 6, need MORE attention, and give away what they’ve got?

Let me state, I am not a prude. I am actually, a sexy, young-30′s, attractive woman. There is nothing wrong with being sexy and attractive. However, when I go into a little girls department, and I see, size 6X (usually a girl around 6-7 years would wear this size, for those who don’t know) booty shorts, with, “Lil’ Cutie,” on the butt…. what message do you think, the mother or father who purchases those shorts for their little girl is sending? And what about taking a young boy to the mall, where every store has bigger than life, naked women plastered to the window…. NOT inside the store, the front window! How about walking into the corner store, where all of the porn is eye level for a child?

What are we doing? Where do you think these babies are going to  be by the time they are teenagers? I watched a news report, about young high school girls, who would perform services for boys, and then, wear bracelets to show off what they are willing to do…. how “far” they will go…. and, everyone knew what the bracelets meant….. The bracelets were flaunted proudly.

Why is this do you think? Well, marketing for one. Marketing companies believe people are idiots, and they don’t really have to come up with good advertising, all they have to do, is slap a pair of tits on it…. and we will BUY it…. are they wrong? IDK, look around, what do you think? The next reason, may be…. the sooner children lose their innocence, the sooner they become big time consumers…. they want fashion, make-up, cell phones, ipads….. they no longer want to enjoy the business of being children, they want to be grown-ups, 10 years early. Big time dollars for corporations.

Next, have you ever noticed how few decent looking men there are in Hollywood, especially when compared to the many knock-out women? Have you ever wondered why this might be the case? Possibly, because, the middle-aged fat guys, want to sell the idea, middle-aged fat guys can get a supermodel or two…. On top of this, I believe, it’s designed to make women insecure, so we believe, we have to buy all the things which will make us look like Hollywood women. I read a statistic once, stating, white, American women, have the lowest self-esteem of all women in the world. Wow, wonder what American women have, that other women don’t? Possibly, a husband who is pumped full of the fantasy, that he too…. like the average (at best) male actor in Hollywood can obtain the full time model. Mind you, they don’t let these men know, these women get paid to look that way, they are airbrushed, go through 3 hours of hair and make-up, and make their money being beautiful (nothing wrong with this, women in Hollywood ARE beautiful). These women, are NOT killing themselves raising the average Joe‘s family: Working full time, homework, laundry, breakfast/lunch/dinner, grocery shopping, cleaning, car pool, ALL OF IT. Not making excuses for women who let themselves go, I believe, no matter what size/shape/look, a woman should make the best of what and who she is.

Not to mention….. what the average Joe looks like himself, not even CLOSE to the few good looking me who are on t.v. (NEVER naked, of course, we wouldn’t want our men to have to live up to, or be made insecure by THAT standard!). Why do we think this is? Um, to get the men, to spend their money, on the belief, they can have women like this…. even if only for an hour.

Where does all of this sexy consumerism leave our country, our culture? It leaves our children, at home alone, with no one loving them, no one caring or looking out for them. Why? Because both parents need to work more than full time to provide the sexy, 11 year old little girl’s clothes, to be able to buy the ipad for the little boy to look at naked women, for the mother to spend her money on trying to look like a Hollywood supermodel; eventhough she IS taking care of the average Joe’s home, and the father, chasing a dream, that has been pumped into him by the media, instead of seeing the beauty in his very own family.

What future does this leave us? The breakdown of our families? The lack of support and love of our children? Our husbands and wives divorcing at alarming rates? Sex on t.v. every five minutes?

Parents, I beg, let’s take back our children. Let’s NOT allow MEDIA for the purpose of stealing our money, to dictate who our children will be. STEP-UP, and do not be afraid to parent your children. To NOT be their friend, but to give them guidence and teach them and love them. Forget the skinny jeans, and the ipads…. and all the overtime to pay for it!!!

Better than the question, where does this leave us, is, where are we going?

  1. I could not agree more!!!! My daughter wears a 6x and we went to buy her a dress for a her father daughter dance and I was horrified! I should not see dresses int he little girl section that I would wear out a dressy romantic night with my husband. They do not need strapless, skin tight, and thigh high slits!

    • It’s so sad to me, and the problem, in my humble opinion, is…. the parents are allowing it. Maybe they are too tired to fight, or feel guilty for not being around, or just plain ol don’t care…. I mean, if they look like this at 6, what in the world will they look like at 16???

  2. Two thoughts: You have hit on a huge issue with our cultures hyper-sexualization and our brainwashing media that is destroying the minds of our nation and leading us down a swift rode to hover scooters like in Wall-E.

So I work with teenagers….and sadly I see this all over. I have junior high girls wearing bracelets with the word, “Boobies,” in bold letters all for the sake of, “Breast Cancer.” I am not knocking the need to raise money but it is merely another example of the over-sexualized aspect of our culture. I know this may come as a shock but I desperately try to avoid all the commercials with airbrushed beauties. I love my wife and adore her. I want to raise my children to see people not by what they offer but for who they are.

    enjoyed your post.

    • I AGREE about Wall-E, that movie, was right on! And I agree with you about “boobies,” also…. I mean, what’s wrong with the cute lil pink ribbon, and…. junior high girls….barely HAVE boobies, why would they wear those, better yet, why, are they allowed.

And thank you, for being a man who has respect for your wife and family. My guy is very respectful himself. It doesn’t hurt me if we are watching a movie and he says, “She’s pretty,” because, I know his heart and his eyes are pure. It’s all the difference. There are beautiful people all over this world, but, it’s what’s in the heart when we come across them (those of us who are attached =D). I believe, the media/advertising companies want this… to push it a step further. I’m so tired of watching our country be destroyed for a buck!!!

Thanks for the comment! Hope to hear your thoughts again. Good luck with those junior high girls! Can be a handful I’m sure.
